In poker, you must use five cards, some of which can be so-called community cards, ie cards that are common to all players. Out of the five cards, it is then a matter of forming a better composition of the cards than the other players. The card compositions rank as follows:

The Cards

  1. Royal Straight Flush: five cards from 10 to aces of the same suit (eg 10, Kn, D, K, Aces in spades) in two of these the winner is decided here in certain games on the suit, otherwise there is a split pot.
  2. Straight Flush: five cards in a row of the same suit (eg 4,5,6,7,8 in hearts), in the case of two straight flushes, the winner is decided on the highest card in the sequence.
  3. Four of a Kind: four of a kind cards (eg four jacks) at two four of a kind the winner is decided first at the highest four of a kind, if these are the same it is decided on the so-called “low kicker”.
  4. Full House: a set of three of a kind plus a pair (eg three 7s and two 4s), in the case of two full houses the winner is decided by the highest three of a kind, then by whoever has the highest couple.
  5. Flush: five cards of the same suit but which are not in sequence (eg diamonds 2,4,7,8, D), in the case of two flushes, the winner is decided by the highest card in the suit.
  6. Straight: five cards in a row that are not in the same suit (eg 8,9,10, Kn, D in different suits), in two straights, the winner is decided on the one with the highest card in a row.
  7. Three of a Kind: three of a kind cards (eg three 9s), in the case of two three of a kind the winner is first decided on who has the highest three and then who has the highest card in addition to these possibly also the second highest.
  8. Two Pairs: two times two of a kind (eg two aces and two 5s), in the case of twice two pairs the winner is decided on who has the highest pair, then on who has the highest of the second highest pair, and finally on who has the highest fifth card.
  9. High Card: if nobody has a pair or better, then the highest card wins.

In joker games, however, five of a kind will be the highest hand.
